Report a traffic signal fault

How do I report a traffic signal fault or problem online? (Two methods)

• By map view: use the Permanent Traffic Signals Map or the Temporary Traffic Signals Map . Zoom to the area and locate the appropriate traffic signal icon or search by road name on the right hand pane “Find Location” tool. Once identified, click on the icon and then click on “Report fault”.
• By list view: use the Traffic Signal List at the bottom of the page. Filter by ‘permanent’ or ‘temporary’ traffic signals and use the drop-down menu to filter by location. Once the traffic signals are identified, click on “Report fault”.

What information should I give when reporting a traffic signal fault?

• Description of fault Please give as much information about the problem as possible to help us identify the nature and cause of the fault. (Please try to avoid just stating “Traffic signals not working”).
• Time and date – When you first noticed the problem and, if applicable, how long this has been the case for.
• Your contact details – in case we require further details. We will not pass your information on to any third party.

Can I speak to somebody to report a fault rather than use the online form?

• Call us on 0300 200 1003. However you may find that reporting the fault online is faster.

How should I report an emergency at traffic signals?

An emergency is where there is a threat to public safety. Please do not report it online.

• For permanent signals - call our contact centre on 0300 200 1003.
• For portable / temporary signals - please report to the traffic management company whose details should be displayed on street or via this website.

Examples of emergencies include:

• signal pole has been hit and is leaning onto the road,
• all signals are off and not illuminating,
• wires are exposed.
